Glossary
These definitions match on-screen labels. They are not tax or legal advice.
Portfolio
- Portfolio book value
- Approximate value of your positions using quantities and average cost you enter. It is not a live broker feed unless you add prices manually or through supported workflows.
- Holdings
- A row tying an asset to a quantity and average cost on a date. Holdings drive portfolio book value and allocation views.
- Net worth (simplified)
- Portfolio book value minus active debt balances in WealthWise. It is a workspace snapshot, not a full balance sheet of every real-world asset.
Cash flow & budgets
- Cash flow ledger (income & expenses)
- Household ledger entries you record—salary, rent, groceries, subscriptions. This is separate from buy/sell transactions inside the portfolio module.
- Portfolio transactions (ledger cash effect)
- Buys, sells, dividends, and fees you record for assets. The dashboard may show a net cash effect for loaded transactions—distinct from the income/expense ledger.
- Budget utilization
- Compares spending in categories against limits you set for a period. Alerts fire at thresholds you configure; overages are visible in the workspace.
Debts
- Active debt
- Loans you track with a current balance. Repayments can update the balance without necessarily duplicating a cash expense when configured that way.
Bill splits
- Settlement (bill splits)
- Recording that someone repaid their share of a shared bill. Settlement updates who still owes what inside the bill split workflow.
Currencies & FX
- Base currency & reference FX
- Totals may convert to your base currency when exchange rates are available. Missing rates leave some figures in native currency until you supply data.
AI & memory (roadmap)
- AI assistant (when available)
- Planned assistant to explain trends in data you already store—scoped to your account, not a substitute for professional advice.
